The first illustrated writing manual published in England, by the Huguenot Parisian writing master Jean de Beauchesne and the otherwise unknown Englishman John Baildon. It is likely that Beauchesne provided the French and Italian scripts and Baildon the English scripts, including this 'secretary hand', the archetypal cursive commonly used in Elizabethan England.
